A deep refurbishment project that consisted of full upgrade of chilled water plant, air side and controls. Team Catalyst was primarily responsible for load estimating writing chilled water plant specification, air-side specification and BMS specification and developing the functional control strategy.
The refurbishment involved replacing the existing chillers with right sized high efficiency chillers to cater for efficient full load and part load operation. The air side specification required replacing all the existing air handling equipment including adding more units to ensure efficient zoning in order mitigate cooling/heating conflicts that was prevalent in the existing system configuration.
Team Catalyst also carried out a whole building energy simulation to predict building performance based on the revised system configuration. Being a Green Building Fund Project, Team Catalyst demonstrated to the Department of Industry (VIC) that the building was on track to achieve the predicted CO2 emissions saving.
